A POT OF GOLD IN A FIELD
Once there was farmer who had three sons. He was hardworking but his sons were lazy. One day, the farmer fell sick. He was worried about how his sons would make a living. He thought about this and finally came up with an idea. Before he died, he told his sons that he had buried some treasure in the middle of the field. After the farmer died, his sons dug up the field to find the treasure. They worked hard for many days as it was a big field. However, they found nothing and were disappointed. About a month later, they noticed some plants growing in the field. They were surprised to find that the plants were wheat. They reaped a rich harvest and sold the grain for a lot of money. It was only then that they understood the lesson their father wanted them to learn.

English Oration Competition 2013

It was a very tiring and exhausting week where our school had an English Oration Competition 2013 for Zone 1( Category A&B). This year would be the second time that our school had been given the opportunity to be the host of the competition. In fact, i was the master of ceremony for the program and the tiring part was doubled. I cannot doubt that the program was not perfect that expected, but the outcome was not that bad...(smiled)

There were 7 schools who participated in this program. The nervous comes after me when this time around we should be conducted both category; A and B. Not like before, the competition was open for open category. Meaning that, i have to find another 2 students to be the participants of the competition.

Then, the things become worst when i started to find the judges and to prepare the budget for the whole program. My life was like a bit chaos and fortunately i handled it properly.

When the time comes, the program was running smoothly and our school was announced to win the second runner up and runner up for category. Even though, I was unsatisfied with my trained students, I feel relief because i have done my job very well.

In the future, i wish i could have a better and prepared text so that i would not mistakenly quote the name of our principle from "Mr. kamaruzzaman" become "Mr. Kamaruddin"...heheheh...what a shame...

I am the begginer...

I am currently teaching English at SMU(A) Istiqamah Badang, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. I started teaching English in March 2012. Although I'm new to teaching English, I have a passion and a strong desire to improve and enhance my skills in teaching English and finally make students love English.

This blog enables me to share the teaching materials that I have developed or gained from the English courses  that my colleagues and I attended. Let's use this blog as one of the mediums to exchange ideas related to the teaching and learning of English.

I was once advised that, "Teaching is like cooking. The dish may taste a little too salty or too sweet or overcooked the first time we cook it - and we'll feel frustrated. However, don't give up. Find out why/where our cooking has gone wrong and try to improve it. Cooking, like teaching, is always a trial-n-error."

Lastly, I hope that my blog would benefit all English teachers and students around the globe especially in Malaysia.

I can be contacted at najwamohammad86@gmail.com. Please drop any comments should you have any suggestions to improve the teaching and learning of English especially in Malaysia.
